Nexus 5 vs LG G2: What is the difference ?

nexus 5 vs lg g2

Clash of two devices is tighter than you would think

Google after a few weeks of waiting throughout the Android community on Thursday finally introduced its Nexus 5,the flagship Nexus device for this year. Its manufacturer is LG, which in reasonable price(on the Google Play) put the most powerful specs. In countries where you can buy the device via Google Play, such as in Germany, or England or US the Nexus 5 you can bought at $349(16GB).

Today we take a closer look at what are the key differences between the two flagship smartphones, both manufactured by Korean company LG

Display

Let’s start first with the display which gets most of our attention. LG G2 has a slightly larger screen than the Nexus 5 LG because it has a 5.2-inch panel, while the Nexus 5 with modest with 4.95-inch Full HD display. Both displays comes with technology from LG called True HD IPS +, which ensures excellent viewing angles, and they are, as I mentioned Full HD (1920 x 1080). Finally, I can not forget to mention protection to the screen in the form of layers of Gorilla Glass. However, there occurs a smaller difference– Nexus 5 is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, while LG G2 uses “only” Gorilla Glass 2.

Chipset – power / speed / RAM

In this area, both devices are indistinguishable. Both offer the same speed,in fact quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset with 800 clocking at a speed of 2.3 GHz with Adreno 330 GPU.In addition, both devices offer 2GB of RAM.

Camera – 8MP vs 13MP

This is one of those areas where we will see the first significant difference. LG in its flagship G2 used 13MP camera with optical image stabilization for sharper pictures. Nexus 5 provides “only” 8MP camera which also has optical image stabilization. We want to draw attention to the fact that more megapixels does not mean better photos. The difference would be reflected only when printing photos in full size.No accurate conclusion and evaluation can be drawn at this moment until we do detailed tests on both cameras.

Nexus 5 vs LG G2: What is the difference ?

As for the front camera, LG G2 offers a 2.1 megapixel camera, while the Nexus 5 with 1.3 megapixel.

Battery – 2 300mAh vs 3000mAh

Even though both devices have the same processor and graphics chips, LG G2 offers a larger battery. It is not just a small difference, LG G2 has 3000mAh battery, while the Nexus 5 is powered by a 23,00 mAh battery.Initial tests indicate Nexus 5 to provide 12-16 hour battery life for light to medium duty use. Whether it will be enough we will know it soon.

Storage

Nexus 5 and Lg G2 is available in two variants–16 gigabytes and 32 gigabytes However, a problem arises with the availability in some countries, which is currently limited to 16GB version for both devices. The difference does not occur neither in the possibility of memory expansion via microSD card as LG G2 or Nexus 5 do not support this option.

Size

As someone who has a relatively large hands, I must say that you won’t have any problem holding the Nexus 5 and LG G2. LG G2 is a teeny more, it offers a larger screen, but not so much that you can notice it. It measures 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 millimeters, while the Nexus 5 measures 137.9 x 69.2 x 8.6 millimeters. Nexus 5 is therefore slightly thinner and lighter as it weighs only 130 grams versus 143 grams weight of LG G2.

Again, I can subjectively say that Nexus 5 in hand operates somewhat enjoyable as a back cover made of frosted plastic.

Operating System

Here again arises a slight difference between the two devices, this time naturally in favor of Nexus 5 Google started selling the device running latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat . Android offers several new enhancements.

For LG G2 with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is relatively new. It depends whether you like such modifications or not.We hope LG soon starts rolling out Kitkat 4.4 update.

Price

The last point is of course the price, which is one of the most important factors when choosing any device. If you are lucky enough to live in a country where it is possible to order Nexus 5 directly from Google Play and you do not have a big budget, we recommend you to buy Nexus 5. Buy it because it is available only at $349 for the 16GB version.

However, if you are in US and want to buy equipment directly from the online store, or a physical store, where the situation is radically different. Now Best Buy is selling Nexus 5 at $449, while LG G2(32GB version)is about $553.99 Amazon.The price therefore is not a big difference, so really you just have to decide, which is an good deal for you.

Conclusion

On the one hand we have a powerful machine that is as pure as a lily, on the other hand, we have again a powerful device that from comes from early age and fed on steroids.

We did not manage to say about all the benefits of Android 4.4 KitKat and interesting location buttons on LG G2, but we get to do this later.
